4 People Killed, Dozens Faint in Leaking Gas Pipeline Incident in Madina Sumut

MADINA-SUMUT, HastagNet – Four people were killed suspected of gas poisoning in a gas pipeline leak incident at Mandailing Natal (Madina), North Sumatra( North Sumatra).

Not only that, as many as 10 people underwent hospital treatment for suspected gas poisoning.

“Information while 4 people died allegedly due to a burst of pipe gas. In addition, there are 10 people confirmed to be still being treated,” said Head of Public Relations of North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Hadi Wahyudi, Monday (1/25/2021).

The victim was a local resident at the site of the leaking gas pipe of the Sorik Marapi PLTP plant.

Hadi said a number of police were deployed to secure the scene.

“Currently personnel from Reskrim and Sabhara are on site to secure and process the crime scene,” he said.

Police are still carrying out security at the scene as a number of residents protest over the incident.

“Efforts are being made to neutralize the situation, because there are residents who do not accept the incident,” he said.

Earlier, the Regent of Madina Dahlan Hasan Nasution confirmed the power plant pipeline gas leak that occurred on Monday morning.

“Yes, now security is being carried out on top of the help of our security forces,” said Dahlan Hasan.

A number of people who fainted and died have now been evacuated to hospitals.

“The victim passed out and some are reported to have died and have now been taken to hospital. I want to go there (hospital), the number of victims has not been confirmed,” he explained.
